Haywards Heath Bike Ride moves up a gear

Bike Ride“Loved the Ride”

There may have been ice on the handlebars at the start but The HHDBA’s second Greater Haywards Heath Bike Ride attracted nearly a thousand riders on Sunday 1st April.

World Champion Thai Boxer, Ruth Ashdown, ably supported by sponsors, Ian Goodridge and Mike Briggs from The Orchards Shopping Centre and Dan Thompson, Managing Director , Insurance Operations at First Central set the riders off after Ruth had put the riders through some essential warm up exercises.

“Just loved the ride” e-mailed one rider when they got home. One rider donated an extra £100 “just because it’s been such fun and you’re all volunteers”; another gave £50 and £25 was added by The Broadway Residents Group . Organiser, Ruth de Mierre, says: “It was a brilliant day and we’re truly grateful to everyone who entered for their support! It’s not just the Yews, our own charity, but many others – both national and local – who will benefit from our riders’ generosity”.

“More importantly, can we thank all our wonderful volunteers; our heroes and heroines who have helped register, marshal and supported us throughout,” adds Ruth. “There are too many to name individually but we’d like to single out Haywards Heath Town Council especially Town Clerk, Steve Trice who really came up trumps Many thanks again to our main sponsors, the Orchards and First Central, as well as South East Water and Stuart & Partners for their support. Two of our riders will also be able to keep fit after their ride as they won a year’s membership at the Dolphin Centre, thanks to Freedom Leisure.”
