Central Sussex College welcomed local employers, along with prospective students and apprentices, to its Open Evening on Wednesday 7 June.
The College’s Business Development Team and Skills Advisers were on hand to talk to employers about the recent changes to Apprenticeships, while the Job Shop explained how they can help with recruitment by matching candidates to local Apprenticeship opportunities.
Funding reforms have introduced an Apprenticeship Levy for large businesses with an annual payroll of £3 million or more. The ways that Apprenticeships are structured are also being updated, with new, employer-led standards replacing existing programmes. The College is already using the new standard in many of its offerings. And the College’s Job Shop can help with recruitment by matching candidates to local Apprenticeship opportunities.
Apprenticeships are changing, in ways that will affect business large and small. Whether they are hiring new staff or looking to train existing team members, employers need to be prepared. The Skills Advisers at Central Sussex can help. Visit centralsussexcollege.ac.uk/apprentice for more information.
