Mid-Sussex based choir Coro Nuovo offers the perfect antidote to the January blues as it stages an Afternoon Tea Concert at Burgess Hill Girls School.

Best described as an eclectic mix of songs for a winter’s afternoon, the concert programme will provide music for all tastes.
The concert will also showcase some of the choir’s individual and group talents, including Schubert’s ‘The Shepherd on the Rock’ featuring Lorna Collins, Richard Haslam and Diana Davy, a unique jazz solo from Jo Kimber, ‘The Owl and the Pussycat’ performed by a group of Coro soloists as well as a famous Mozart trio. Andrew Rees, the choir’s music director and international tenor, will also be performing.
During the interval audience members will be treated to a rich platter of cakes and scones.

Profits from the afternoon will go towards the choir’s Music Bursary, which was set up last year to help young aspiring musicians with a local Sussex connection.

Managing Chair, Kate Kent said, “With Coro’s Afternoon Tea you can start the New Year as you mean to go on – listening to wonderful music, eating lovely food, and raising funds for a good cause! We’re very excited to be able to help a young person achieve their dream of becoming a professional musician.”

Coro Nuovo’s Afternoon Tea Concert takes place on Sunday 22 January from 14:30 until 17:15. Tickets can be purchased online by visiting: coronuovo.org.uk/online-tickets/ or from 01444 235475.
