Once again, Broadway Sound, will deliver an outstanding and diverse list of musical acts to entertain the expected 3,000 guests that will travel from across Sussex to enjoy this unique Street Music Festival.
Tickets are now on sale for the ever popular Broadway Sound, a fantastic Bank Holiday magical day of music situated in the Broadway area of Haywards Heath, on Sunday 24th May. An excellent ‘day out’ for all the family – only £8 a ticket (purchased in advance), children 11 and under are free.
There will be two stages, one at each end of the road, with 17 performances. This year’s impressive list of music styles will include Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, Country and Big Band – music for all, played back to back from 11am until 10pm.
Jam-packed into a 100m stretch of The Broadway is a one-of-a-kind fiesta of the hottest local music, the ambience is created by closing The Broadway to traffic, additional seating areas spill out into the road from the cafes, bars and restaurants. Visitors can soak up the vibrant sounds and catch up with friends and families. Children are kept amused by children’s entertainers and face painters.
The high quality of the Festival programming and the welcoming atmosphere has drawn audiences back again and again. For those who have never experienced the event – our only advice is get your tickets early. LOCAL/MID SUSSEX? SUSSEX ENTREPRENEUR CREATES TREASURE HUNT TO GET BUSINESSES NETWORKING.
BUSINESS owners had to work together to find hidden treasure as part of an innovative new way to network, all of this went on in March of this year.
Instead of simply talking to each other the entrepreneurs at the Sussex Pages Prestige Networking event had to quiz each other to get the combination for padlocked prizes.
Once they had the numbers they were given the chance to try and unlock them.
The Prestige XP Networking Lunch and Charity Shield takes place on Aug. 14th at Hurst College, in their glorious dining hall which is fit for kings and queens.
A business lunch, guest speaker and networking afternoon will entertain local businesses with a themed event of trivial pursuit networking and special prizes.

Largest employer in Hayward’s Heath opens new 25,000 square foot offices
1ST CENTRAL, the leading motor insurance company based in Haywards Heath, has completed a £1m+ refurbishment of the premises previously known as Tamsin House on Perrymount Road, following the need to accommodate the rapid growth of the business over the last five years.

SLEEP WALK 2015 – JUST FOUR WEEKS LEFT TO BOOK AS AN EARLY BIRD
St Peter & St James Hospice is holding its annual Sleep Walk on Saturday 11 July. The Early Bird booking closes on 22 May, so to make the most of the discount, the Hospice is encouraging people to book a place and support their local hospice.
With this year being the Hospice’s 40th anniversary year, it is hoped that more people than ever will take part. All ages are welcome, so everyone is encouraged to bring family and friends. The Early Bird Entry fee is just £12 if you register before 22 May. You can register or pay online at www.stpeter-stjames.org.uk/event/sleep-walk2015. After that the entry fee is £15 closing on 3 July.
Setting off at midnight, the 10k route leaves The Dolphin Leisure Centre and goes around Haywards Heath finishing with everyone receiving a finisher’s memento and a free breakfast. There will be prizes for the best costume, so everyone is encouraged to pop on their onesie and slap on the face paint to enjoy the Hospice’s major event of the year. For anyone who has never taken part or been unable to take part for the past couple of years, please do all join in and make this a night to remember. As the Hospice celebrates its 40th anniversary, please join in the fun and earn your 40 winks!
All the Hospice services are free of charge to patients and loved ones and St Peter & St James relies on its local community for 86% of its funds, as just 14% comes from the Government. St Peter & St James cares for patients from Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Lewes, Uckfield and surrounding villages. With a population of 200,000, if every person in the catchment area gave just £1 a month this would nearly cover the running costs.

LOCAL HOSPICE HOLDS FIRST EVER ANTQIUES AND COLLECTORS FAIR
As part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, St Peter & St James Hospice is delighted to announce its first ever Antiques and Collectors Fair, with guest television presenters from ‘Antiques Roadshow’ and ‘Antiques Roadtrip’. All are invited to attend this special event on Sunday 19 July (10.30am – 4pm) being held at the Hospice, in Chailey.
The public will have the opportunity to have their items valued by the renowned television antique experts as well as looking around a number of stalls for hidden treasures. There will also be distinguished, local experts on hand specialising in silver, ethnic antiques and clocks. The items need to be portable and it will cost just £5 to have three items valued with a £1 entry fee per person.
As well as being able to see the beautiful Sussex countryside in which the Hospice is set, there will be live entertainment, refreshments, free parking and the chance to hire a stall (£30) or stall space (£25). To book a stall, please call 01273 400352.
Therese Wilson, Head of Retail – including Vintage China Hire, said, “Visitors to our ‘Antiques and Collectors Fair’ on Sunday 19 July may be hoping to buy some vintage or antique china but they will also be able to enjoy actually eating cake and drinking tea from our beautiful and extensive range of delicate and pretty Vintage China.
“If you didn’t have a suitable event coming up this year, once you have seen the china at close quarters, you may well wish you had. It’s great for weddings, special anniversary events and any special occasion where tea is involved and we are able to cater for up to 400; or, if the event is for lunch or dinner, we are able to cater for up to 100. It promises to be a fantastic day!”
HOMESMITH’S NEW WEBSITE
This month saw the launch of HomeSmiths’ new website, which has been designed for us by fellow HHDBA member Henry Laker from HH Design. Henry has done a great job in making sure the site is ‘responsive’, so that clients old and new can view the website on any device. It has been great working with Henry and we are really pleased with the results. We have also introduced video testimonials with the help of local videographer Clare Jones, which a handful of our previous residential, healthcare and commercial clients kindly assisted with. CHARITY STOOLBALL TOURNAMENT

Highly anticipated local Dog Show returns to the 2015 Cuckoo Fayre
Cuckfield’s annual Cuckoo Fayre is returning once again on 4th May 2015 – Bank Holiday Monday – and promises to be as popular and entertaining as ever.
Following incredible success in previous years, The Mewes Veterinary Clinic will be holding their Dog Show as part of the day’s events, giving local dogs the chance to compete in a variety of classes including ‘Waggiest Tail’ and ‘Best in Show’.
Dog owners are encouraged to enter their pets into any of the judging classes to be in with a chance of winning prizes, rosettes and other treats for their canine companions.
Practice principal Julia Mewes said, “The Mewes Veterinary Clinic has hosted the Dog Show for quite a few years now, and it’s always a really fun afternoon.
“We typically have an excellent turn-out, with lots of dogs, owners and spectators attending to watch and support the competitors throughout the day.”
The ever-popular fancy dress class is also included in the competition, and is usually the most anticipated event of the day.
“The fancy dress class is undoubtedly the most entertaining part of the event, but probably the most competitive too!”

Mid Sussex District Council are organising events for children in the District to support National Play Day on 5th August, 2015. The events are taking place in Haywards Heath, East Grinstead and Burgess Hill and the theme will be “Space, Technology and the Universe”. We are looking for local companies to provide some small amounts of sponsorship to provide prizes for the children in fancy dress and active play competitions – £50 for an i.pod shuffle and £20 for runner-up vouchers.
