Overcoming obstacles to growing your business 4th March 2015 07.30 – 08.45

What prevents us from implementing our ‘brilliant’ plans?


Many directors and owner-managers do realise that having a (business) plan is important. Often much time and effort goes into preparing such a plan and there is a sense of achievement and satisfaction when it is done.

However, why is it that so many plans are only partially implemented or sometimes not at all? What is preventing us from implementing our plans, it is lack of money? Is it the lack of good people? Is it a lack of the right technology? Is it not having enough time? What is it that stops us from implementing our ideas and plans?

This session is a facilitated workshop-type meeting during which key obstacles are identified and potential solutions discussed.


Attendees would take away a few important ideas to help them overcome some of the obstacles to growing their business.

Speaker Background:

René Moolenaar a Senior Teaching Fellow at the Business and Management School at the University of Sussex and a director of Prism Group, the Accountancy, Tax and Business Strategy firm. He works with SMEs in the South East and London on the development of their strategy and business plans and often supports them with the implementation of it too.

René has a background in Commerce, Marketing and Engineering. Before starting Prism Group, he has had various senior roles at United News & Media and Philips Electronics. He is originally from The Netherlands and enjoys rugby.

The HHDBA are organising a facilitated discussion about obstacles which potentially could hold you back from growing your business. To support this discussion, we would be grateful if you could complete this survey before you attend.

Networking Drinks 10th March 2015 17.45 – 19.30

Idlewild in the Broadway is the place to be for the HHDBA highly successful networking event. Meet in the main bar area, buy a drink, enjoy some free nibbles and network furiously.

Peer Learning Group 17th March 2015 18.00 – 20.00

The Peer Learning Group provides specialist support to any HHDBA members from any business sector. It is an innovative and proven way of helping each other solve an endless range of business problems and offering “deep” networking, often leading to business being done between group members.

Working in small groups of 6 to 12 people, in action learning sets, attendees can raise their business problems in confidence, with up to four issues being dealt with at a meeting. At the end of a set, anything up 30 solutions will have been suggested and members are encouraged to feed back later how their businesses have moved forward and profits increased.

Do YOU have something you would like some free thinking upon? Perhaps the jolt of some bright ideas and enthusiasm will re-ignite the flames of your entrepreneurial spirit? Or deal with a thorny problem that is blocking your progress or bugging you too much?
