Growing and protecting your intellectual property 25th September 2014 18.00 – 20.00
Intellectual property is a posh word for everything that a firm holds dear and would rather keep to itself. It’s all the stuff in the firm that gives the firm its competitive edge. And without competitive edge, the firm won’t be able to compete and will not prosper.
So as the title suggests, John Berry’s talk is first about how to grow more intellectual property. Because more intellectual property means more competitive edge. And second, it’s about how to keep that intellectual property to yourself. That last point is tricky since firms have to tell their market something about their products and services or they’ll not attract customers. And those products and services and the way the firm does its business contains lots of intellectual property. So there’s always a balance between telling and keeping safe.
