HUNTERS ESTATE AGENTS CELEBRATES FIRST BIRTHDAY

Hunters

Hunters has enjoyed a promising first year in business in Haywards Heath and Partner, Phil Richrdson, reflects on their success:

“2012 was slow throughout; what was obvious in local selling was that there were buyers out there, but some property valuations tended to be over ambitious. Property that was keenly priced and actively marketed was sold, but stock that was over-priced tended to stall until the on the market price was lowered to meet customer opinions.

January and February this year were certainly busier with more people looking to market their property. This continued with good levels of sales up to the Easter break. Since that time there has been a slight slowdown of new instructions coming on and buyers are reporting some difficulty in finding the right property for them. This is in part due to the slight shortage in new stock appearing and further with a number of market appraisals where the vendors are undecided whether to market now or wait until further into the year. We are hoping for a more active year in 2013 and certainly all indications point in that direction as we continue to build on market share and local reputation.

Tom Gunstone, who comes from a background in house sales with a south London competitor, has just joined the team and, of course, HHDBA members who want to discuss market prospects are welcome at Hunters any time!”

MONTE CARLO OR BUST FOR CHARITY

Monte Carlo or BustHHDBA members, AM & M and Extech, took part in the Gatwick Diamond Business 2013 Charity Challenge in May helping to raise more than £12,000 for the GDB’s chosen charities

12 teams in cars provided by Coulsdon Audi set off for the Monte Carlo Columbus Hotel, driving non -stop and competing against a GDB team using only public transport. Brilliant navigation, dastardly intrigues amongst competitors to outsmart others at toll queues, not to mention generous contributions to the French Police for speeding fines, made for a close contest.

Alix Cox from AM&M, Becky Sharpe from Harvey John Recruitment and Tony Rice from Audi, found themselves in the lead car coming to the final toll approaching Monte Carlo itself, but a disastrous choice of toll queues, coupled with an inadvertent tour of the famous Grand Prix racing circuit, saw them pipped to the post by Team EasyJet, and, ultimately, end up in fifth place behind even the Public Transport team.

On The SpotPaula Tomlinson, of On the Spotax, says Marriage and Civil Partnerships are provided with many tax reliefs and people shouldn’t say there are none.

For instance business partnerships, where one spouse is a working partner, provides scope or, if the company is limited, there are opportunities via share distribution. Paula also warns of the risks on not managing inheritance tax.
